Canada’s mini bookstore chain, Nicholas Hoare, will be closing its Ottawa and Montreal locations due to an increase in rent.
The Ottawa store first opened 1994 and was facing a 72 percent rent increase from its landlord, the National Capital Commission.
According to the CBC, the Ottawa store is planned to close on April 20 when its lease ends.
The lease for the Montreal store ends in July.
As a result of these two closures, the National Post reported there are plans afoot to expand the Toronto store.
