Bellevue House, interior

Today Bellevue House is a National Historic Site of Canada. Dedicated to John A. Macdonald and demonstrating life in the 1840s for a middle-class family, the house is one of Kingston?s main tourist attractions. Impressively, the grounds are tended using landscaping theories from the mid-19th century: the grass, for example, is scythed by hand. Tours are available daily from interpreters dressed in period clothing. For more information, visit http://www.pc.gc.ca/eng/lhn-nhs/on/bellevue/index.aspx.
