Poetry Goes to School, by Bob Barton and David Booth

Highlighting poetry in honour of National Poetry Month, Pembroke Publishers' Book-of-the-Month is Poetry Goes to School by Bob Barton and David Booth. While many people do not appreciate poetry, the authors understand that it can be a very important part of childhood and, through their book, they give teachers ways to bring poetry into the classroom, allowing students to rediscover its joys. Filled with lessons, poetry samples, descriptions of poetic genres, teaching tools and activities, Poetry Goes to School will get children reading, writing and appreciating poetry while at the same time, as author Bob Barton suggests, aiding children with learning other subjects such as science, and helping them to understand difficult ideas and social issues.

Please take the opportunity to read a free preview of the book. Also head over to the Pembroke Publishers website for further details about Poetry Goes to School.

In celebration of National Poetry Month, Open Book: Ontario will be posting a Poetry Post each week day. Do you have a poetry-related link that you think we should know about? Please send it to [email protected]
