Editor and writer Alex Boyd has started up a new blog called The Lonely Offices after making the decision in February 2013 to bring his former website, the Northern Poetry Review, to a close. The Northern Poetry Review will remain online, but Alex has chosen to start this new blog due to the diminishing attention that gets paid to poetry. Devoted to Canadian poetry, The Lonely Offices includes a variety of poems by well-known Canadian poets, interviews, articles and book reviews of poetry books. The list of poems on the blog so far are Jessica Hiemstra?s ?The Most Beautiful Things I?ve Seen In October,? Vancouver poet John Donlan?s ?For the Baysville Public School Reunion,? Sandra Kasturi?s ?Come Late to the Love of Birds? and Toronto poet Pino Coluccio?s ?The Incredible Shrinking Man.? The first interview is with George Amabile, and there?s also a review of The Best Canadian Poetry in English 2012 (Tightrope Books). Contributors to the blog are Alessandro Porco, Ingrid Ruthig, Allison LaSorda, Carmelo Militano, Ashley-Elizabeth Best and Alex Boyd. Keep an eye on this exciting new blog for poetry lovers.

The Poetry Post series is written and organized by Megan Philipp, Open Book: Ontario's Editorial Intern. Having completed the Publishing Certificate Program at Ryerson University, she is pursuing a career in publishing. She also writes and edits for The Mindful Word, an online magazine focused on mindfulness and engaged living.

In celebration of National Poetry Month, Open Book: Ontario will be posting a Poetry Post each week day. Do you have a poetry-related link that you think we should know about? Please send it to [email protected].
