Many of Ontario's most passionate and dedicated readers live in communities spread across the province, so the International Festival of Authors (IFOA), now in its 33rd year, will be taking its show on the road once again to bring its exciting program of literary events to 14 locations throughout Ontario. From October 16th to November 2nd of this year, outstanding authors from Canada and across the world will visit Barrie, Brantford, Burlington, Hamilton, Markham, Midland, Parry Sound, Picton, Orillia, Owen Sound, Thunder Bay, Uxbridge, Windsor and Woodstock.
This is the sixth year that IFOA Ontario will bring its writers to smaller literary hubs, thanks in part to partnerships with local libraries, bookstores, universities and community organizations. “We're very pleased to continue to bring well-established authors to communities across Ontario, and to help authors who are well-established in their own markets find an audience in Canada for the first time," says Geoffrey E. Taylor, Director of IFOA. "The enthusiasm of our partners and their audiences is a reminder of how much Ontarians value opportunities to meet and connect with authors."
Some of the authors who will be packing their bags this year include award-winning novelist and essayist John Ralston Saul, Scotiabank Giller Prize winner Vincent Lam, Rogers Writers’ Trust Fiction Prize winner Annabel Lyon and 2012 Man Booker Prize-nominated author Ned Beauman. The schedule also includes Marjorie Celona, Rawi Hage, Joanne Harris, Jane Johnson, Chan Koonchung, Laura Lippman, Erlend Loe, C.S. Richardson, Salman Rushdie, Cordelia Strube, Susan Swan, Benjamin Wood and many others.
