Muskoka Chautauqua is excited to announce that the 2013 Muskoka Chautauqua Reading Circle event will be held in the village of Port Carling, May 31-June 2. Next year's theme is "Health, Humour and Happiness" and our speakers will be exploring how these three themes are interrelated.
The event will once more be moderated by Steve Paikin. Joining him as a speaker will be Dr. Michael Evans, whose video "23 and 1/2 hours: What is the single best thing we can do for our health?" has had almost 3 million views on YouTube.
Authors attending will be Francesca Grosso, co-author of Navigating Canada's Health Care - A User Guide. Francesca will talk about how to access health care that is better, faster and safer. Mairlyn Smith, author of The Vegetarian's Complete Quinoa Cookbook, will provide some quinoa tips and talk to us about living healthier lives. We chose Little Ship of Fools, by Charlie Wilkins, author of several books, to illustrate how our passions in life can test us, while making us happy - every rower, indeed every one of us who has been motivated to get out there and do the things we love (even when highly dangerous) will relate to the book and enjoy Charlie's account of his row across the Atlantic.
